Cluster Administrator

Administrators use cluster management applications to configure, control, and monitor clusters. Cluster Administrator is one such application and exists for this purpose. On computers that are not cluster nodes, for example XOX, you install Cluster Administrator using Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools. On computers running the XOX family of products, Cluster Administrator is installed, along with the Cluster service, when you install the operating system.

Important

Only computers running XOX or XOX can be cluster nodes.

You use Cluster Administrator to create the cluster, join nodes to the cluster, manage cluster objects, establish groups, initiate failover, handle maintenance, and monitor cluster activity through a convenient graphical interface. Developers providing their own resource types can write an extension that enables Cluster Administrator to manage their custom types.
